Anger follows horse killing in Mad River
Westward Linda, a horse, was shot at Mad River. She was carryiing a foal that was the offspring of the top Californian stallion, Old Topper. Westward Linda's foal was due in March.
Westward Linda was shot twice during the night. Once between her shoulders that piersed either the lung or the heart. The second shot was in the pelvis.
One of the owner claims to have heard a few "popping" noises and then a car rushing away.
Westward Linda was shot with .22 caliber rifle.
This horse was only eight years old! The owners revealed that Linda was the horse you always hoped for, and her value was increasing as she had kept producing strong runners.
the community and California Thoroughbred breeders association, raised money to give to the owners to put torward the reward money to the person or people who catch the shooter.
The owners had been in business for 30 years and nothing like this had ever happened before. The owners put forth the sum of $5,ooo to the reward and the community added $3,250 to it so the reward is now $8,250.
Contributations can be made to the Trinity County Sheriff's Office, Secret Witness Fund for westward Linda, P.O Box 1228, Weaverville, CA 96093. This is to help people come forward with information, please help avenge the killing of Westward Linda and her unborn foal.

My Response to the State of the Union Address
Our President came into the chamber with a loud applause from both sides. There were hands shakes and kisses, as the president walked up to the podium.
When Bush started his speech he expressed his sorrow for the death of Martin Luther King Jr.'s Widow.
Then he moved on to other topics. Bush talked alot about U.S competiveness. He said that we need to stay competitive so that the world knows that we are the best, or something like that. He wants us to have the best scores in our high school kids than any other place. He wants to train 70,000 teachers in the Advanced Placement high school science and math instruction.

Touched by an Angel
We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.
Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.Yet if we are bold, love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls. We are weaned from our timidityIn the flush of love's light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we areand will ever be.Yet it is only love
which sets us free.

Fire Guts Apartment;Animals Die
There was a fire at Palm beach. Someone had reported that there were animals in the building. The Martin County rescuers tried for more than 30 minutes, to rescue the animals, but int he end their attempts had failed.=(
There was a pet dog, snake, and cat that died in the blaze.
There was no-one home when the fire started, therefore no-one to put it out.The investigators said that the fire started by the light in the aquarium the snake was held in.
The two owners were Brian Buxton and Ivy German.
The Martin County deputy Dale Howard said it was too hot to even attempt to go inside the building. He said that shortly after he arrived at the fire at 2:00 a.m.
"There were flames when I came around the corner," he said.
The heat from the fire had already caused a window to shatter by the time the first fire trucks.
Some of the officials said that it was contained to the one apartment, but there was probably smoke in some of the other apartments.

Animal owner accused of cruelty
In Norwich, police rescued nine cats from a home. The police said that the house was in total dissaray. The room was filled with piles of clothing and other things that came up within a few feet of the ceiling(Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew)! There was cat urine and feces all over the place! There were insects crawling everywhere too. The police saw no litter boxes, no water containers, and no food containers. There wasn't even any cans or bags of cat food in the entire place!
Some of the cats got away when the police were trying to catch them. The police think that at least six cats got away.
While treating the cats for fleas and ticks, they found out that one cat was infected with feline AIDS, three with feline leukemia, and three with upper respritory infections.
Hawkins(the accused persnon) is charged with nine counts of animal cruelty because of the lack of medical care, unsanitary conditions, unsafe enviroment, foul air, and lack of food for the animals.
Hawkins was released on a promise to come to court on February 3, 2006, and reffered to the Southeastern Mental Health Authority.
And now for my opinion on the subject. I think it is a cruel thing to do to any animal, whether it is a cat or an elephant, no animal should have to live in it's own crap!!! If I got to ask this Hawkins guy a question, it would be 'how would you like to live in your s***?" It's just mind boggling to me that any human being would want to make any animal suffer when it's in your care. But then i think it is mind boggling that a human would want to kill another human. Any way since the creature's did live in his apartment, then supposedly he lived in there too. How could Hawkins live in that apartment? With all the feces and urine, there would be a terrible stench. I know i would hate to live in a stinky, messy apartment.

Animals chained, Man charged
A man was charged with animal cruelty after investigators with the Escambia County Humane Society found 13 animals chained and contained in nailed plywood boxes at a vacant home in East Brewton. A deposition hearing has been set for Friday morning.
Acting on a tip received several months ago, animal cruelty investigator Renee Jones said that Calvin Green has been charged with animal cruelty.
According to Jones, Green had moved from his home in East Brewton and left seven grown dogs, four puppies, a raccoon and a chicken chained and withheld from sufficient shelter and with only minimal water, causing the animals to react with vicious behavior. However, two of the grown dogs, Jones said, had not been chained and had “sweet temperaments.” Jones said that Green had allegedly been visiting the home once a day to feed and provide water for the animals.
According to Jones, one of the dogs had been chained with an orange electrical cord wrapped around its neck, while a female dog, who had given birth to a litter of puppies, had been chained in such a way that she couldn't lie down. When Jones said she arrived on the scene, several of the puppies were dead.
Jones said she believed they had died due to lack of warmth and nutrition since the mother couldn't adequately provide for her puppies. However, Jones said she couldn't prove that was how the puppies had died.
Jones said that one of the animals at some point had gotten tangled in the chain and a “bunch of junk” and had cut its hind leg, possibly on a piece of tin. After further investigation, it was found that the dog's hamstring had been severed to the bone.
Two of the puppies, a German shepherd and a Chihuahua, were being kept at the home in plywood box nailed shut.
“They were absolutely suffering,” Jones said. “You can't just put them out there and not socialize them. They were dangerous.”
Jones said that chaining dogs without socializing often them turns them into vicious animals. According to statistics from the Humane Society of the United States, chaining or tethering a dog is defined as “the practice of fastening a dog to a stationary object or stake, usually in the owner's backyard, as a means of keeping the animal under control. These terms do not refer to the periods when an animal is walked on a leash.”
While there is no law in the state of Alabama that bans chaining an animal, Jones and the HSUS highly recommend against it. According to a study published in 2002 in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, it was reported that 17 percent of dogs involved in fatal attacks on humans between 1979 and 1998 were restrained on their owners' property at the time of the attack.
Coyote Killing Contest
51 coyotes were killed Tuesday at Wyoming, during a contest that the winner get the prize amount. There's was a first and a fourth place prize.
The Humane Society objected to the hunt and sent a letter to request that it be canceled. They said that the contest was "a blatant disregard for wildlife and the integrity of ecosystems.''

Already this year 2 animals have been tested positive for rabies. This event happened in Phoenix, Arizona .
For those who don't know what rabies are, it is a deadly disease that is transmitted through a bite(which could be from anything from a skunk to a bat).
Last year there were 107 animals that tested positive for rabies.ouch!!!
Pet owners are putting their pets down in great numbers
Some people have been putting down their animals because of how intenese the heat has been in North Queenland, Alstralia. Some of the pet owners have a hard time doing it but they think its time to do it.Theres been an increase in the disease euthanasia, which is leading to all the owners deciding to put down their animals. Euthanasia is a disease that makes the animal, or human, try to hurt or kill itself.
So overall the owners of the animals think it more safe and less hurtful to their emotions to just put them down. Don't you think it would be alot harder to see your loyal pal slowly and painfully kill itself??? Wouldn't you put your pal to sleep??? I know I would.
Poisoning their animals without knowing it
This dog died after eating Diamond dog food
As did many dogs after they ate the Diamond dog food. The company claims that it was only one factory in the east that was producing the infected food, and that company never sent the dog food to California.
But why would that matter???? That company killed several dogs (there's no official count).
